The puppies were 6 weeks old last Saturday morning and are really starting to show their personalities! All are very outgoing and inquisitive.

Here are photos of the pups taken today. Some cooperated and would stand up but a few were not so helpful – so we let let stay laying down (hey, they’re only 4 weeks after all)! We really like what we are seeing and are looking forward to seeing how they continue to develop.

Just a quick update as it’s late and I have an early start tomorrow. I’ll post more pics, including individual pictures tomorrow or later next week. Meanwhile, here are a few pics taken this evening of the puppies at 3 weeks old.

With a heavy heart I have to report that this afternoon we had to put down one male puppy following 24 hours of rapid deterioration in his health. Despite intensive care with fluid/glucose treatment and antibiotics, we could not reverse the downward spiral of our ailing pup and so we decided to stop him suffering any more. We did have a necropsy done and now await the pathology results.
We are keeping a very close eye on all the others, but so far they are all growing well, eating well & are full of life.

A quick update on the puppies and some new photos. They are all growing well &Skye is recovering very well from the surgery. They are noisy little blighters and Mom sometimes needs a break!

Skye Puppies are Here

In the early hours of March 14th, 2009, Skye had 7 beautiful puppies by Hunter (Am Ch Alcan Master of the Hunt). Due to a complication with the first puppy, they were all delivered by C-section resulting in no sleep at all for Jari or myself last night (who says breeding dogs is easy?).
Anyhow, all are doing well and we have 3 boys (2 grey and one sable) and 4 girls (3 red and one grey).
