AM/CAN CH U-GRCH NYRAKYM'S STAR OF SAMALJANKANborn: 7th May 2000Star is truly a star here at Nyrakym/Samaljankan kennels. She is intelligent, sound and with effortless movement (just like her Mom and Dad!). Star was bred to Mr. Wookie (BISS Am/Int Ch Malko's Wookie of Kunek) in the spring of 2003 and had one puppy - Skye. She's a real chip off the old block! She was bred once more, this time to Casey (BIS BISS Am/Can Ch Williwaw's Kodiak Cub) and produced just one puppy again - Vega. Star has also showed much promise as a hard working sled dog and has passed that enthusiasm on to her daughters. She finished her Canadian championship before reaching 12 months of age &, first time out as a special, at just 12 months of age, she won a Group 4th in a very competitive working group. She qualified for the AMCC Top 25 event in 2002 by coming in 8th place overall (males and females) in the 2001 AMCC top Malamute standings. Using the AMCC ratings (for number of Alaskan Malamutes beaten in conformation competition) she was the 3rd placed female in Canada and the top winning female in the Mid East area (covering Ontario [East of Thunder Bay] & Quebec) in 2001. In 2003 she once again qualified for the AMCC Top 25 event despite very limited showing. She finished her championship in the US with both majors won at Specialties under breeder judges. The first was awarded at the New York/New Jersey AMCA Area Specialty in October 2003 and the second at the AMC of Wisconsin Specialty in July 2004. In 2005 she once again placed (Group 3) in a very competitive working group, on her only outing in Canada. She is now a veteran and comes out once in a while, placing in her classes against stiff opposition at the 2008 AMCA Regional/National. Coming out of retirement at 9 years old for a single weekend of UKC shows, she finished easily with multiple group placements and even got a leg towards her grand champion title! In early 2010 she completed her UKC Grand Champion title. At the 2009 AMCA National week, she won her class at both shows and at the natioanl was kept in the cut right up to the very last, just missing out on an AOM at the very last minute... She truly is a STAR! |
